Coming to Detroit, Ohio, and Pittsburgh!

I'm excited. It's been a couple of months since I hit the road to meet Adventure Cycling members and talk bike touring -- and now I'm about to traverse an area rich in cycling (and also Adventure Cycling history): Detroit, Ohio, and Pittsburgh.

I'll be there from February 22-29, hosting seven gatherings for members and anyone else interested in bike travel (see below for the schedule). A major focus will be the unveiling of our latest route, the Underground Railroad Detroit Alternate, which runs from Oberlin, OH, to downtown Detroit and up to Ontario. (Check out Mac McCoy's first in a series of posts about this great new route.) We're partnering with a lot of wonderful organizations to host these events and get the word out, including REI, Michigan Trails and Greenways, Bike Cleveland, Consider Biking, Bike Pittsburgh, Visit Lorain County, Swerve Bicycle Shop, Carnegie Mellon University, and a couple of cool bike co-ops in Toledo and Cleveland.

* A quick request: We always look for volunteers to help with refreshments and setting up at events, so if you'd like to help, contact Sarah Raz at sraz@adventurecycling.org. Also, I enjoy staying with members (and it saves the organization money), so if you want to host an itinerant bike traveler, let me know at jsayer@adventurecycling.org. The places where I need a place to stay are asterisked (*) below. Thanks!
