Caution: You May Be Trampled or Eaten

I came across the above sign while pedaling in South Africa. At first I thought, "Wow. They are letting me choose which animal I want to be cautious about. How cute." Then I realized that the sign was meant for people driving cars. That made my pulse increase a bit. The top of the sign highlights animals that could trample you, while the bottom of the sign is reserved for animals that could eat you.  I assume the sign designed for cyclists would have three exclamation points.

In India, the caution is regarding protection of the animals. Once again, a sign aimed at drivers. The one for cyclists should read, "Pedal really fast to avoid being crushed by wild animals."

In Thailand there was no sign, but there should have been. "Caution. Major Duck Crossing." I'm not sure which would be worse -- to be stomped to death by a wild elephant, or slowly waddled to death by a thousand ducks ...

Just remember to obey all traffic signs ... once you figure them out.
