A Film Festival for Bicycle Travel

Self-described as ?the only film festival in the USA that focuses specifically on bicycle travel," The World on Wheels: The 3rd Annual Ciclismo Classico Bike Travel Film Festival is just around the corner on May 17th.

From a tour of Vietnam on cyclos (bicycle rickshaws) to a ride in Egypt after the Arab Spring, The World on Wheels shares adventures that will inspire attendees to get on their bikes and ride!

Karin Turer, festival promoter said, "We received really amazing entries and we had to make some hard choices -- we only have one night and we could have filled several.  But one thing that all the films have in common is that each time I started watching one, it only took a few minutes before I wanted to drop everything and go explore on my bike.  If we can share that excitement and wonder with our audience, then we're doing our job!"

This year?s festival celebrates Bike Week 2012.  In addition to a night?s worth of films that will take you around the world, the festival brings you:
  • The Cookie Showcase* - an amazing all-cookie buffet featuring Arlington?s finest bakeries
  • The Great Jersey Giveaway - win a bike jersey!

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door
On sale NOW, but you can win a pair of tickets by leaving a comment on this blog post.  Tell us your favorite cookie to munch on after a long bike ride, and get entered to win.

Karin's favorite: "Homemade chocolate cookies with caramel inside (when you bake them, you get this effect by wrapping the cookie dough around a Rolo candy!)"

*Why cookies and films?  Well, the festival promoter (Karin Turer) and the title sponsor CEO (Lauren Hefferon of Ciclismo Classico) both have an extreme sweet tooth.  Plus, the Regent is located in Arlington, MA, which boasts numerous independent bakeries including the amazing Lakota Bakery.  So when discussing the menu for the evening, an Arlington-only ?Cookie Showcase? made sense.
