Let me start out by letting you in on a secret: New England in the fall is incredible. Okay, not much of a secret. The stunning beauty of this region in the autumn brings thousands of "leaf-peepers" to admire the bright colors and beautiful views. Most speed along in a car, missing the feel and smell of the crisp autumn air, the crunch of newly-fallen leaves under their tires.
Not so for the participants on our inaugural Vermont Inn-to-Inn tour. Led by yours truly and the unmatchable Sally Fenton, our group spent a week exploring low-trafficked roads through picturesque farmland and colorful woods with innumerable photo opportunities. We had the full experience -- bright reds and oranges biking up to beautiful Jay Peak, fall sunshine as we pedaled along Lake Champlain, late-season rain and even the first snow of the year! While some may have been discouraged, our group persevered with good humor. Our reward? A chance to tour the famous Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory in Waterbury, Vermont, and bright sunshine for our last day!
After the tour concluded, I spent a week exploring Lake Champlain and gathering information for the brand-new Lake Champlain Inn-to-Inn tour we're offering next year. It looks like it's going to be a fabulous trip!
