New IMBA Program Tells You Where to Go

The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) has launched a new program call IMBA Destinations. According to a promise posted at the program's web page, "IMBA Destinations can help you find incredible places to ride, tour operators, skills camps, bike rentals and transport, lodging and great post-ride refueling spots."

IMBA Destinations is aimed not only at individuals looking for places to ride, but at companies involved in mountain-bike tourism, such as cross-country ski areas, bike shops, mountain resorts, and so forth.

"Through our partners at SWAE Sports, IMBA's web visitors will be able to find your individual tours and book them directly through imba.com, as well as hundreds of other magazine, hotel, and visitor bureau websites. In the words of Adventure Magazine, 'SWAE's systems are something of an Expedia for adventure travel.'"

At the same time, IMBA offers these businesses for-fee consulting services to help develop trail systems and other strategies key to attracting destination riders.

Just one more example of the growth in bike tourism ? which we often associate with road touring, but can work for the fat-tire crowd, as well.

Is your home territory doing anything to promote bicycle tourism?
